About

Michi is a test pilot for Advance and an enthusiastic Hike-&-Fly competition pilot. His first flights were tandems with his brother Chrigel Maurer, until reaching the age of 16 when he obtained a license and soon joined the contest scene.

Interview

Do you remember your first flight? How was it?

It was with my brother Chrigel on the tandem, and then there were short flights on the slope behind our house at Adelboden.

What moments make flying worthwhile?

There are many “most beautiful” flying events. Above all, they have all taken place together with some great people.

Your three top flying areas?

Switzerland itself is a great place to fly. It’s the variety that counts! From the Niesen we have quite different surrounding topography and varied flying, all close to home.

What are you doing on a day that is not flyable?

There’s always plenty of action at home with our three small children, whatever the weather...!

Most important paragliding successes?

Vice World Champion 2015, PWC-Winner 2014 and Swiss Champion 2019.

Why do you fly for ADVANCE?

I’ve worked as an Advance test pilot since August 2013.

What is your favourite food?

My wife is a very good cook! There are lots of favourites, but she’s especially good with lasagne.
